In the 7th century A.D., a fratricidal war divided two Greek islands for several dozen years. From Naxos, it only took a few minutes to land on the beaches or at the ports of Paros. From the unconquerable heights overlooking the shores, sunken valleys and grassy plains, it was possible to see ships approaching, to send out alerts, and to organise the defence of land that aroused covetousness throughout the ancient world.Learn more
Today, on these heights that long preserved Paros from unwelcome surprises, you will find one of the most charming Greek villages. Lefkes, a maze of twisty, flower-lined alleys, where white houses succeeding one another are crowned by an ancient Byzantine church. Further along, perched on a hill overlooking the town and the breathtakingly beautiful Aegean Sea, a villa stands at the heart of an idyllic estate, its boundaries defined by old stone walls climbed by plants and roses.
A few amphorae and pottery pieces are dispersed along the swimming pool and punctuate a terrace sheltered from heat by a pergola. An assembly of dry stones, immaculate walls and solid-wood beams makes up the residence’s structure. In this traditional construction, the rooms inside lead to one another through elegant arches. Rustic and authentic furniture is combined with some more modern paintings and light accessories.
In the suites, carefully selected art objects are enhanced by plays on light induced by the white walls and the golden rays of the ever-radiant sun causing the peaceful sea, visible from the master bedroom, to glimmer.
On the silvery waves, a tall silhouette emerges in the distance. Against the infinite blue sky, the green forms of Paros stand out clearly and superbly finish an already stunning panorama. This once threatening presence has transformed, over time, into pure aesthetic pleasure.
