Ten minutes to the south of Chora, the main town of Mykonos, the Agios Lazaros Bay is a small corner of serenity. Facing it is the infinite sea and in the distance, the ancient island of Delos, the sanctuary of Apollo. At its feet, the beaches known as Psarou and Platys Gialos stretch out their white sand and their azure sea.
Posted as a look-out over the Agios Lazaros Bay, the Villa Krommidi has the joyous airs of a country house, reinterpreted in the Cycladic fashion. The large building – a main house and an adjoined guest house – stands at the centre of a magnificent garden and has a charming, rustic air with its façade dressed in raw stone and chalk. This same warm atmosphere reigns on the interior: in all of the rooms, the traditional white walls are warmed by the golden wood of the flooring and the high ceilings with visible beams. The large bay windows of the living room and the four bedrooms on the ground floor let the sun spread over the sofas and the beds. Outside, set on the terracotta slabs of the terrace in the freshness of the pergolas, large divans in wood and rattan wait in front of the transparent blue of the infinity swimming pool and the sea on the horizon.
It is the nature of the Villa Krommidi that gives it its beauty – the lemon trees, olive trees and bougainvillea of the garden and the sea that stretches as far as the eye can see. Everything here is an invitation to long summer evenings in the scents of the garden while cooking near the large exterior oven or looking out to the island of Delos as night falls.
